Frequently Asked Questions

What size pots do I need?

Starter Kit
If you are just about to start weaning then the starter kit is ideal. The first objective of weaning is to get your baby used to having something, other than milk, in their mouths, so the  small 1oz pots (1oz = 1 ice cube) are perfect for this. As your baby starts to want more, you can gradually increase the portion size. This kit is suitable for babies under the 75th weight percentile or those who are at the early stages of adjusting to solids.

Intermediate Kit
If you have already started weaning and your baby is accepting solids, then we have the Intermediate Kit. This kit is ideal for babies who are already eating quite a few mouthfuls (8+ spoonfuls) and above the 75th weight percentile, or twins. It is used by some mums as a starter kit, if their baby is eating lots - often bigger babies or those with large appetite (My 2nd baby started with this kit as he was on the 98th percentile, and just ate and ate!)

Advanced Kit
This kit is great for the later stages of weaning when your baby starts to eat more (from around 7-8 months+), for babies at this age & above the 90th weight percentile or larger twins.

Postage and packaging
Our store prices include 1st class postage and packaging to the UK (this excludes the Republic of Ireland). Please email to obtain postage rates for other destinations. Orders will be posted via the Royal Mail using 1st Class Post (please allow 2-3 working days for delivery).

Items are dispatched promptly by TotsPots. We would ask that you contact us should your item not be received within 10 working days of TotsPots delivery notification.

Can I pick up my order?
Yes orders can be collected directly, please contact me if this is your preferred option.
Cleaning and heating the pots
The pots are reusable and can be cleaned in the dishwasher (top drawer only). They are also microwave safe. They will melt if placed in the oven, or an industrial dishwasher (ie: those used in restaurants).
Can I Sterilize the Pots?
Yes, they can go in microwave or steam sterilizers. But do NOT place them in a pan of boiling water, as the lids are likely to mis-shape.

If your baby is 5-6 months old they are likely to be putting lots of things in their mouths anyway, so why bother?  Type into Goggle ' when can I stop sterilizing bottles' to see the range of responses on this.

My personal advice is to clean the pots in the dishwasher, or do it by hand in hot water with lots of washing up liquid.  If you child has low-immune, was born prematurely or has medical condition/s, please consult your GP for advice.

What are the pots made of?
They are plastic polypropylene pots specifically designed for storing food in. They contain the following symbol to certify they are made of this quality plastic.

Are they BPA & Phthalate FREE?
All our pots do not contain BPA (Bisphenol-A) or Phthlates, chemicals which are thought to  harm growing children.

Are they good quality?
I searched widely to find pots which held their shape and lasted longer than 'reusable' pots found elsewhere. The plastic is good quality and will last throughout your entire weaning process and beyond!!

What if I need a different number of pots to that offered on the website?
Please contact me if you would like a size combination which is not offered on the website.
